Stop #8:Volksbühne

volksbuehne-mit-wahrzeichen

The final stop in our journey is Volksbühne, located in Berlin, Germany. Although built in 1954, this theatre still features plays that were written during the Enlightenment period. You can watch plays inspired by works such as Nathan the Wise.  I would like to visit this place because German theatre has always caught my eye. I feel like the Germans really emphasized what it felt like to be freed from other reigns. For more information and tickets, visit the official theatre page.

Stop #7: Auschwitz Concentration Camp Memorial

The next stop is Auschwitz, located in Oświęcim, Poland. Although this place is not directly in Germany, it is still very important to acknowledge this place and make sure that history never repeats itself. I want to visit this location because WW2 history has always fascinated me. The horrors of Auschwitz should never be forgotten. This memorial is very interactive, meaning that you can visit many different areas of it. To learn more, visit Auschwitz’s official site.

Stop #5: The Lessing Monument

The Lessing Monument is the next stop in our German Travels. This monument is located in the Tiegarten in Berlin. Gotthold Lessing was a head icon in the Enlightenment movement. He was famous for his works in theatre and promoting religious tolerance. He is a figure that we need to remember today as we are pressed with the issue of acceptance. To find maps to the moment, visit the official Trip Advisor for Berlin’s Tiegarten.

Stop #4 : “The Albrecht Durer Haus”

nurnberg-durer-haus

The fourth stop on our list is the “Albrecht Durer Haus” located in Nuremberg, Germany. I wish to visit this site because I am an Art History major at Wayne State University and Albrecht Durer was one of the most influential artists in art during the Reformation. His art reflects morality and humanistic values. This site feautures some of the best rooms of his house and also a room that features some of his paintings. duerersaal.jpg
